Maths Week/Pāngarau Wiki 2024

Monday 12 August – Friday 16 August

I can’t remember my username and/or password. How can I obtain these?

To have the login re-sent, send an email through the Contact Maths Week link

I have registered but haven’t been sent a username or password. How can I get them?

The login information will be emailed to you on 29 July (or soon after you register if you do so after 29 July)

The email may have gone to your Spam or Junk folder so we suggest looking there.

If you still can’t find the email, send an email (see Contact Maths Week) and we will re-send them

What are the dates for Maths Week?

They are 12 – 16 August for 2024

Where are the games?

The games are available from the main menu during Maths Week

Does each teacher at school have to register?

Yes – this gives us important information about Maths Week.

Where are the questions-only pages?

These are found on the home page of the web site from the Monday of Maths Week and throughout the remainder of the week, and can be accessed by clicking on the appropriate name.

Where are the answers pages?

They are found under the For teachers section of the website once teachers who have registered log in.  Passwords are being sent on 24 July (or when teachers registers if they do so after that date), and teachers will then be able to access the teacher copies of the worksheets (these contain the questions/activities and also the answers and any helpful notes).  Being able to access this material before Maths Week starts means that teachers will be able to become familiar with the worksheets before Maths Week.

Can students in a class work at more than one level?

Yes! It is up to teachers to choose which level or levels they want to use the Maths Week resources with in a class. The levels of difficulty have been carefully set.  This allows all students in a class to be able to use and enjoy the material. Teachers are encouraged to work with different levels in a class if the need arises.

What does Maths Week cost to participate?

Nothing. Maths Week is sponsored by the Ministry of Education and NZAMT

What do the levels mean?

Level 1: Year 1-2
Level 2: Year 3-4
Level 3: Year 5-6
Level 4: Year 7-8
Level 5: Year 9-11

Can I obtain resources from earlier years?

Previous years resources are not available.  Because the resources change from year to year (and could be quite different) there is no benefit to teachers in making available material from previous years.

Games on Apple IOS Devices.

The following games are available and can be found at the bottom of the home page of the Maths Week website.

Do students need to log in?

Students do not need to log in. During maths week, all the resource material and games will become live on the website over the course of the week for them to access.

It is only teachers who need to log in if they wish to access the teachers versions of the resource material (or to access other teacher-related facilities).
